Back in 1972, few would have imagined the significance of Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College’s journey. The future seemed uncertain. There were challenges in every facet of the organization. Attracting students and good faculty were the basic twin challenges. And resource mobilization was always going to be the key.
The first year saw a trickle: 4 students. It improved marginally to 12 the next year. Year-on-year, the numbers began to increase. 40+ years down the timeline, over 4,000 students are happy to be here doing things they cherish.
This seamless growth of the institution is a testimony to the successful organization building by the leadership over time.
Obviously, the initial years mattered. The founding members were committed to building an institution on the strong foundation of core values – excellence, integrity, responsiveness, team work and inclusivity.

At one of the busiest junctions in the city, … on a cozy and homely campus … in one of the most revered institutions … over 4,000 girls flock together in intense anticipation … cheering, clapping and bringing the roof down with their shouting … and the elders not holding back …
As one may expect, they are glued to the action of a cricket match. But they are not supporting the Indian team,… but a player from their own college, who is playing on the big stage!
This free-for-all scene is not just a one day affair. All through the year, the girls express themselves in unison with a camaraderie that is unbelievable. The occasion could be anything: a quiz competition, a debate, a college fest or Teacher’s Day celebration.
Indeed, it is a one-of-a-kind modern institution. One built with love and commitment, … one built for empowering women so they can excel in whatever they do.
Welcome to mLAC, or what is popularly known as the Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women. Going forward, mLAC is what we would like to be known as more in keeping with the times and the expectations of young women in a rapidly changing world.
It is a happening college, whatever the yardstick. The best of students have confidence in the institution and continue at mLAC to pursue higher studies. Maharani Lakshmi Ammanni College for Women has now partnered with Globalfti to introduce the ACCA qualification in Bangalore. Students can now go for ACCA qualification along with their B.Com (ACCA) and get upto 6 ACCA Papers Exemptions.
